Hi! I’m Dr Nam Tran

I was raised in Brisbane and undertook my medical degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 2002. I underwent further hospital-based training at The Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. I have also worked in medical education and have been involved in the GP training program as an educator and mentor.

I have also served in the Australian Army Reserves and was fortunate enough to have deployed to the Middle East Area of Operations and have undertaken numerous roles in military health care during my service. As such, I enjoy working in veteran health care, but also enjoy mental health, men’s health, children’s health, preventative medicine, travel medicine, geriatric medicine, dermatology and skin cancer surgery.

In my spare time I love to exercise, read, garden, tinker with electronics and am a keen outdoorsman. I enjoy challenging off-trail hiking and testing my personal survival skills. I am equally passionate about animal welfare as I am about human welfare and firmly believe in the healing power of animal companionship in one’s mental health.
